Jay grew up in Toronto where he worked in the construction field until he graduated with Honours from York University with a specialist degree in history. After graduating from York, he earned a Juris Doctor degree at the University of Toronto, Faculty of Law. Jay was recently honoured as “Favourite Lawyer”
in the Bracebridge Examiner's 2015 Reader's Choice Awards.
During law school, Jay gained valuable experience while working at the Scarborough Crown Attorney's Office. He then moved to rural Northern Ontario to work at a law firm on a First Nation reserve. While working on a First Nation, Jay practiced several areas of law, including criminal, family (child protection), civil, employment and business in both an Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal context. Jay has practiced law in Muskoka for a number of years with a focus on criminal, family law, civil litigation and Aboriginal legal issues.
When not practicing law, Jay enjoys hiking, going to concerts and plays in the Bracebridge Men's Fastball league.
